In 1972 (the first year I watched the Mets), the team lost it's starting OF, shortstop, catcher, and one starter to injuries. The next year, a surprise World Series appearance. Keep the faith.

or 1987
Win the Series in '86 with 108 regular season wins (and I felt that with that team they should've won 112-115 really), then have every starting pitcher wind up on the DL in '87. Maybe it can happen to Philadelphia, who knows.

2010 Dreams
Why not? The Mets have a lot of excellent players coming back next year. I can't imagine having the same spate of injuries next year. I believe that if we had Reyes and Maine back sooner this team would've had a chance. Maybe not. But we've still got core offense (Reyes, Wright, Beltran and Francouer) who will be here plus hopefully healthy Johan Santana and John Maine. Offseason acquisitions or signings are a must. This offseason is Omar's final test in my opinion. If he doesn't fill the holes correctly he should be sent on his way.
