Bye Bye Schoeneweis

The word just came down from the Front Office about a half-hour ago... Schoeneweis is no longer a New York Met. Instead of the man who basically blew any chance the Mets had on the last game of the season, the Mets get Connor Robertson from the D-backs. Who is Connor Robertson? Well I don't know either. From the press release, he has more minor league experience than major league experience. That isn't bad is it? I mean, we can use that same argument with David Wright. Anyway, Robinson last year had an 0-1 record and 5.14 ERA in six appearances. However, he had a 7-4 record and 5.02 ERA in 47 games with the D-backs Triple-A Tucson affiliate.

Great start, but...

I cannot say anything wrong about the opening series with the Marlins. I'm writing this during the ninth inning because we have already one, and their is no way the bullpen can blow a 13 run lead.

This opening series has been good because we now know that the starting lineup can hit in situations and the bullpen can hold, if you don't count the walk-off win on Tuesday. The one thing that we have to worry about is Pedro, but everyone knows that.

"Ladies and gentleman, we got him!"

As it says in the Mets press release, "Unless Johan Santana flunks a physical Saturday, he will become the starting pitcher the Mets desperately had needed...". Doesn't that statement sound so true?

It is going to make us forget about the Collapse of 2007? No. I don't think that all the anti-depressants in the world van help us forget that headache. But if they can win a World Series ring and a parade down the Canyon of Heroes, this will certainly help.

The First Week of September

The first week in September for the New York Mets has come and gone with almost no problem with the exception of the last game with the Reds. If you count the entire Braves series the Mets have gone 6-1, and 6-4 over their past 10 games. It is still early to say that the Mets will run away with the National League East but at this time they have a 6 game lead over the Phillies and a 7.5 game lead over the Braves. The magic number at this time is 17, two games over the average American League magic number where the playoff picture is a little more clearer than the National League except in the wild card.

Headline (New York Post): Guillermo Blow-Up!!!

Hey guess what, Mota blew it again!!!

Howard somehow found a way to hit a walk-off homer off Mota, even my mother can find a way to hit off Mota and see never even touched a baseball bat.

The guy has to go. Does anyone have a count on how many games this guy has blown. Willie basically gave the Phillies the game by putting in Mota in the ninth. I would trust Heilman in the ninth with the game tied that with Mota.

The guy has to go, and I know people on this site has something to say about this kid.
