Great start, but...

I cannot say anything wrong about the opening series with the Marlins. I'm writing this during the ninth inning because we have already one, and their is no way the bullpen can blow a 13 run lead.

This opening series has been good because we now know that the starting lineup can hit in situations and the bullpen can hold, if you don't count the walk-off win on Tuesday. The one thing that we have to worry about is Pedro, but everyone knows that.

However, remember who we are facing. We are facing the Florida Marlins with the lowest payroll in baseball. We are facing them in Dolphin Stadium where anything you hit in the air is going to roll to the wall. Does this series really count? The only reason we are facing them because we faced them in the last series in September. Every game does count, don't get me wrong. But do these games give the Mets some "balls" in Major League Baseball? Does this prove that the Mets will have that almost undefeated season that Jon Stewart predicted?

Everyone with an opinion, please comment.

I'll Take Em All

The Mets can't live on reputation alone. They need to win it on the field. Part of doing that is beating the teams you should beat, like the Marlins. We should've swept the Marlins but at least last night's game showed that we can blow teams out. Tougher tests are ahead but I'm always wary when a team only rises against the better clubs.

I think that last year many people, especially the Mets players, assumed that they would take the divison. This year's motto should be, assume nothing! Let's go out and kick butt all over the league until September 29th.
