Ya Gotta Believe (even when it's hard)

While I share the frustration of watching the 7 game lead over the Phillies slip to 3, as wise man named Tug McGraw said "Ya Gotta Believe".

While belief isn't blind faith in your team, i still believe that the Mets will hold off the Phillies and Braves and clinch the National League East. Do I think that they'll win the NL Pennant? Not so confident on that one.

Finally Delgado is back to swinging the bat and connecting (welcome back Carlos), it's time for Rick Peterson and Willie Randolph (and to a lesser extent Omar Minaya) to do some serious butt kicking in the bullpen. It's absolutely incredible that Mota and Sosa continue to loose games for us. To fall asleep last night (Tuesday) thinking that Tommy's 2-0 lead would hold was a mistake i guess. I keep hoping that somebody is going to say "April Fools" about the way the team has fallen apart the last two weeks.

On a personal note, it sucks that i'm in D.C. for the month of September so i can't see the METS on SNY. I keep monitoring MLB.COM, but it's just not the same. That only adds to my frustration.

That being said, I keep telling myself that we have a talented team, with the POTENTIAL to win the big games. They jsut need to feel confident that we (the fans) are behind them, support them, and want to see them succeed. It took a little cheering for Carlos Delgado the other night before he broke out of that dismal slump. Maybe we just need to scream our heads off, and our hearts out to see if the rest of the team decides they want their season to last into the last week of October.

YOU JUST GOTTA BELIEVE!

the team has alot of talent

the team has alot of talent in the lineup and in the bullpen. however, they just can't connect on both aspects of the game. the mets either have great pitching or great offense in a game, not both. i still got hope but after the sweep by the philles i don't know anymore, and we got the braves next. if we don't win that series at least 2/3 then i think we have to kiss this game goodbye. by the time we face them again the first places team normally have their magic numbers down to the single digits, i really do not know but i still believe.
