SI.com has posted a rumor that the Marlins may trade Dontrelle Willis if they fall out of contention (which they will). So with that said should the Mets trade for Willis or wait and trade or try to sign Carlos Zambrano? Also who would you include in the trade for either.
Personally I would like to see the Mets trade for Willis. As seen with the Zito escapade this summer signing a free agent isn't a guarenteed thing. So I'd offer Milledge and a reliever. I'd try not to deal Heilman but if I had to I would for Willis because pitching talent such as his doesn't come cheap and being able to obtain him in a trade may save the Mets money in the long run as opposed to signing him or Zambrano via free agency.

Dontrelle
Willis continues to have very solid stuff but it seems that his main problem seems to be wildness early on. I completely trust Rick Peterson's judgement as to whether this is something he will be able to manage or not. I did expect better from Willis this year but he's still young and the potential for greatness is definitely there.
The question is, what to give up. If we could get Willis for Milledge that would be a steal, even if we threw in Pelfrey I would go for it. But realistically I think the Marlins would want to raid our prospects for someone with the ability of Dontrelle. They like young, underpaid, high upside players. Would he be worth giving up a Gomez, a Vargas, or a Joe Smith for?
By the way did you check out the velocity on Lincecum last night - I expect that the guy will be a major force for years to come. What I wouldn't give to have an arm like THAT on the mound every five days, jeez. Fortunately Perez held his own!
The Mets are gonna be amazing.

He hit 99 to strike out
He hit 99 to strike out Beltran in the 1st... other then that he threw mid 90's.. I know he hit 97 in the later innings... never hit that 99 again though
Not your standard windup
I just thought he was alot of fun to watch. I like the unorthodox windup, definitely unique and seems to work for him. Echoes of Koufax, Valenzuela, and Marichal. Also he works fast - making him that much more enjoyable to watch.
It all depends on what we
It all depends on what we have to give up. I'm a big fan of great pitching so I'm not opposed to bringing Dontrelle to the Mets.
I notice that his stats are not that hot this season (a 4.83 ERA) but pitching on a winning team and the tutelage of Rick Peterson could turn that around.
I would certainly give up Milledge. I'd throw in Guillermo Mota as the reliever. But what if they want Joe Smith? You know they are going to want a good reliever in return.
I wouldn't want to give up
I wouldn't want to give up smith.. I'd think about throwing in feliciano.. yes I know he's been great but remember he blasted Willie for using him more then 1 inning in a game last year.. I just think that his head will continue to swell and could become a problem in the clubhouse... maybe vargas we could send to them with milledge.. not like we'd need him even in the future with Willis, Pelfrey, Maine, Humber, and Perez as our rotation
