On this episode I take a look at some of the reasons why the Mets have been medicore in the 2008 season. I also talk about the reasons why we could be doing worse in 2008 but are not. Some other topics on the show include:
* A roundup of recent posts from Mets bloggers
* A summary of Mets news items since the last show
* A proposal to move the Clubhouse domain to iheartmets.com

I completely agree with everything you said.
I don't know if I would put so much on Reyes though, but he definitely needs to start improving if the Mets are going to contend for the Championship this season.
Ryan Church Is Awesome
I feared that my recognition of Ryan's performance would create some sort of a jinx. Ryan has had four hits and knocked in five runs in the last three games. He's hitting .324 with 8 homers and 30 RBI. Right now Ryan is making up for Reyes who looks like he may be warming up.
Yea, I knew Church was a
Yea, I knew Church was a step up from Green, but I was not expecting this...
I think we also have to look at the pitiful performanceS of Jorge Sosa. Man, that guy is making me so mad...giving up runs in almost every outing.
Podcast feedback
Hey Rob, nice podcast as usual and in regards to your alternative domain "iheartmets.com", I think you're on the right track. A much more user-friendly URL and an easy one to remember for new people you're trying to attract to the site.
I wish I was in better spirits as I post this message. The Mets just went 3-4 against divisional cellar dwellers. Looking at the boards a lot of people are calling for Willie's head. You only had to listen to the boos at Shea tonight when he was coming back from the mound in last nights game. One thing I will say, I`m sick to the teeth of Willie in postgame interviews talking about how we'll turn things around soon. Since the series in LA where we went 3 for 20 with runners in scoring position in the first 2 games (game 2 should have been a blowout to us and we lost it), Willie talks about these well hit balls and if they were just hit a few inches to the left or right it would be a different ball game and how we're letting opposition teams off the hook with 2-out RBI`s.
He keeps contradicting himself like in today's postgame interview I downloaded from WFAN. He doesnt want to blame "good breaks/bad breaks", "you make your own luck" etc but then he had the big BUT and does just that. I dont know if anyone else heard the interiew today. Ive never heard him so down. We need him or someone else to light a fire under this team. I heard it in September last year that this team would "come around" and they didn't. I'm hearing it again that they're going to get it going soon. When exactly?? I'm tired of the promises.
I won't come out and call for Willie's head (yet) but I want a manager that starts using words like "unacceptable", "embarrassing" and "underperforming" because lets face it, this is the only way to describe the latest homestand. Willie seems like a great fair weather manager but I want to see him light that proverbial fire under this team and motivate these guys. It's not just a matter of not making pitches or hitting but players aren`t even doing the fundamentals. Stupid errors, not hustling (see Wright today, should've made it to 2nd when he thought he`d fly out). This team really needs it spelt out to them in no uncertain terms that their recent performances have been completely unacceptable.
Sorry for the rant and I hope they prove me wrong and sweep the Yanks this weekend but it's been an awful week and I just had to vent! I'd love to hear from other fans. Anyway, lets get it going. Let's go Mets!!!

I totally empathize with the frustration Jamie. You'll see that in my most recent post. It's tough to watch games that the Mets could, and should, win slip away. These games will mean something down the stretch and they've been flushed down the proverbial toilet.
Willie Randolph is running out of spin. What else can he say? I hate to hear him even try to talk about it. The Mets players need to play and the coaching staff needs to motivate and instruct those that are under performing.
Without standout efforts by Johan Santana, John Maine and Ryan Church this team would be in last place.
And thanks for the feedback on the domain :)
