Oh Moises

Talked on the most recent podcast about the possibility of only getting 300 at bats out of Alou this season. Looks like we may be lucky to get that. Stinks, but that's what happens when you've got a 40+ year old position player on the roster. Endy is really important now.

Alou likely out until May - Moises Alou learned on Wednesday that he'll need to undergo surgery for a hernia. The outfielder will be out four to six weeks. [Major League Baseball]

Options for LF

Well with Alou out for a while I've been trying to come up with ideas on who could/should fill his spot for a while and I've got 3 options... 1) Pagan - he's been hitting rather well in Spring Training and plays great defense... 2) Brady Clark - proven vet who has been hitting at a .360 clip in the spring and is going to be learning 1B possibly...3) Kenny Lofton - sign him to a 1 year contract and have him play in LF until Alou comes back and then use him on the bench

All of these options are cheap with signing Lofton being the most expensive.. But I like the idea of Lofton more then the others... He's been to the playoffs and won so his experience would be nice to have... he's a base stealer whom Reyes could pick his brain... and he's currently without a job so he can be had for probably vet minimum on a 1 year contract
