Will Sanchez Make An Impact In 2008?

It's a question that has been going round in my head since I heard that the he was coming back earlier today. This is a guy who missed all of last season and half of 2006.
He needs to be in the physical shape to compete. He needs to have the right mindset, which he didn't have last year in Spring Training. And he needs to have a healthy shoulder.
Duaner was a key guy before that fateful injury but I'm not that optimistic about what the future holds for him. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised.
Mets reliever Duaner Sanchez agrees to 1-year contract at $850,000 - Reliever Duaner Sanchez, sidelined by a shoulder injury since a July 2006 taxi accident, agreed Monday to an $850,000, one-year contract with the New York Mets.
Sanchez, who earned the same amount last year, was the primary setup man for closer Billy Wagner before separating his right shoulder in the cab accident. He had surgery, then went to spring training and was disciplined for repeated tardiness. [Fox Sports]

My thoughts
Well from the few articles I've read about Sanchez's return is that the few people that have seen him pitch lately have all said he's looks in great shape (as opposed to the rumors that he is overweight) .. He's been pitching since early December in Port St. Lucie so he's been working hard trying to get back into form... Also he's reportedly been hitting 94 mph on the radar gun... This is all good news for the Mets as a bullpen with Wagner, Heilman, Feliciano, and Sanchez seems pretty formidable and could take pressure off Omar from worrying about shoring it up and allow him to focus on the rotation... Anyways lets keep our fingers crossed and hope Sanchez's freak injury days are over
We'll See In 48 Days
I'm hopeful but I'll believe it when I see it in spring training. I think that there's a different dynamic in the off season than in the official training. Some guys don't perform well in a structured environment after having such a long layoff. The best of them do but Duaner has yet to prove himself.
So I'm in wait and see mode. I do think that Feliciano, Heilman and Wagner are a strong 7-8-9 combo. Would definitely help greatly to have pitchers who can get to the eighth inning so those guys don't need to be ready to pitch every night.
