There are some serious rants about the Mets on this podcast. A lot of talk about the recent losses to San Diego at home. Problems include Guillermo Mota, Carlos Delgado and pitching in general. Also some thoughts on the trade for Jeff Conine and the hopeful return of Pedro Martinez.

New defensive alignment
I was thinking about this last night during Thursday's game.
How about taking Deglado for a few days, maybe a few weeks. Then shuffle in Green and Conine in and out of first base and also shuffle Green and Milledge out in right field.
Milledge can hit better than Deglado and can contribute more than him, he has done so all throughout the month of August, and if Willie wants that experience and leadership in the infield just put in Conine.
He is just wasting talent by playing Deglado.
The Green, Conine, Milledge
The Green, Conine, Milledge combo is interesting to look at right now because I hear that Endy Chavez is coming back very soon.
The Mets might be forced to send Milledge down for a week or so when Chavez returns because the other options really won't work.
To your original point, unless Delgado is hurt I don't think that Willie will sit him for more than a game. Notice that tonight Carlos Delgado has been moved into the sixth slot in the lineup.
Delgado
You probably got a point there about Delgado. To the point that Willie finally moved Delgado to the sixth slot could do him some good. I went to the first two games against the Dodgers and noticed that he was more calm and concentrated on Saturday. His last two at bats were a good sign. His two run single that basically won the game and the shot to left field is a sign that maybe keeping him in the sixth slot is a good thing. However, when Willie brought Heilman in the ninth I had a fear-based heart attack, just afraid that he was going to blow it.
Unfortunately Delgado has
Unfortunately Delgado has not come out of it since hitting that single on Saturday. He's looking weak tonight against the Phillies.
