What This Team Needs

A good kick in the ass!

I thought about recording a podcast but I couldn't stand the tears on the mic. Then I hear the words of Don Vito Corleone screaming, "You can act like a man!"

We've got a team that is under performing big time and missing huge opportunities. The Mets came out of their Midwest swing on an high note after taking four of six from the Cubs and Brewers.

Then we come home to series' that we can use to solidify our lead in the division. Two of three coughed up to the Braves is a missed opportunity. Two of three (and possibly a sweep) lost to the Marlins is a terrible missed opportunity. We've got series' against the bottom of the division and the Braves and Phillies are playing each other. This is the time to do some damage. Its not happening though.

Last night the bullpen failed for the second night in a row. You can't cream Wagner for his first blown save the other night. Guillermo Mota and Aaron Heilman are another story.

I haven't liked Mota since the playoffs last year when he choked bad. Then the steroids. Why did the Mets bring him back? He's not that good.

Meanwhile we've got Feliciano and Sosa who I think should be more of the staples that help the Mets get to Billy Wagner. Man I hate to see good starting pitching performances go to waste.

Willie needs to rearrange that bullpen in my humble, unprofessional opinion. I think he should consider more shuffling to limit Carlos Delgado's lack of production. His numbers are good (save for the .249 average) but they are not Delgado good and they are hurting the Mets' run production.

So I think there are some things that can be done to try and find the right fit to get back to consistent winning.

And some good swift kicks in the butt wouldn't hurt either.

Unfortunately, I think this

Unfortunately, I think this is standard fare for this team this season. The bats just seem to go to sleep with MISP, big-time comebacks are few and far-between, and the bullpen just isn't anywhere near as good as it was last season. I still say this team will be extremely lucky to even win the division.

The Mets have proven over and over they cannot beat the Braves (I think it's getting to the point of being a mental thing).

I don't know....it's becoming painful even to watch them lately. Even the Met fans at FAN, and even the Mets SNY commentators have mentioned that there is something seriously wrong with this team.

Can i Get an AMEN?!

Rob you nailed it. It's time for somebody to do something drastic. I was SOOOO frustrated with the boys this weekend. I was just waiting for the Mets to punch the snot out of the Marlins and take advantage of the Phillies-Braves match up. It would have been great to see our team pull away as the other guys punched each other out. Either way it would have halped us if we could have taken advantage of this past weekend.
That being said, we need to stop licking our wounds, pull up our socks and start getting the wins that will finally prove to the rest of the division (and MLB for that matter) that we deserve to be in the top spot, playoffs and World Series. But honestly, we won't be doing any of that if we don't start hitting with men on base, getting outs consistently, and using the bullpen smartly!
OMAR AND WILLIE IF YOU READ THIS, PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO SHAKE THEM UP!

A win against Pittsburgh

A win against Pittsburgh helps! We should beat Pittsburgh but i'm not taking back any wins. Thank goodness that Moises Alou has stepped up big over the last couple of games.
