300 Wins For Tom Glavine

Tom Glavine finally got it done last night. I heard the last couple of innings after leaving The Police concert at Giants Stadium.
It was a game that should continue to be a template for Mets wins for the rest of the season. A good pitching performance coupled with a team that takes advantage of opportunities.
Its obvious that Tom still has some gas left in the tank now that he's had two straight excellent outings. And he can still swing a stick as he drove in a run with two outs last night.
Over the last five games the Mets have improved on hitting with two outs. The results show as they've won four of those five games. Things are looking up!
I'm not going to get to deep into the "Glavine's not really a Met" conversation. Mets fans know that Tom was our enemy for most of his career while pitching with the Braves. For the last five seasons he's been a Met though. And he's contributed to the rise of this franchise with his arm, his leadership and his class.
When Tom hit the twilight of his career the Mets wanted him more than the Braves. We didn't know what he had left but we found out that no matter what he was throwing he always had plenty of class to share with the team, the fans and the media. So much like we didn't get to enjoy Tom Seaver's 300th win due to our franchise's shortsightedness, the Braves lose out on that excitement. Better for us.
Now lets go out and lock this thing up!

Glavine's a Met
Rob,
Although i don't have any illusions about Tom Glavine ever going into the Hall of Fame as a MET, i feel that he's more than earned the right to be called a true MET.
I watched every pitch until he left the game (i had to be at work at 4:45 a.m., so 10:15 was a wee late for me), and was proud of Tom, as I am of all the METS during this game. Also i was glad to see the press coverage of this incredible feat.
I'm watching the METS getting shelled by the Braves in game 1, and have faith that the METS are going to finish the season in first place.
LET'S GO METS!
