New season, more worries

As the new season creeps in, I wish I could be more hyped, but honestly I don't think the Mets or me are ready enough. But I know they will pull it together, but Omar needs to put in some weight on the markets.

After an offseason of letting go of there bullpen and ignoring the fact that they needed an all star pitcher for the starting rotation, I'm not seeing a wrold series run this year if nothing goes on to create a spark in the rotation. I still believe in the Mets, and think they're 100% in the playoffs, and I still believe they can go all the way, I just am a little downed after an offseason of getting middle grade pitchers instead of a guy like Barry Zito.

So don't think I think they stink, I love the Mets and I'd never end believing in them. But quite frankly, the offense might have some work to do if Omar doesn't put the pedal to the metal before spring training ends.

Welcome And Strap In Tight!

First off I want to welcome you to the podcast clubhouse. It's great to see all the different perspectives on the Mets and the 2007 season coming together in one place.

I'll tell you that I'm a bit worried too. The starting pitching is a weak spot on an otherwise great team. It seems like anything can happen between now and opening day. If John Maine shows just a little improvement over last year. And if Oliver Perez can throw consistently like he did in Game 7 of the NLCS. We'll be okay then I think. Those are big ifs though. We'll see.

I can't kill Omar on the Zito deal because what he got was ridiculous money. I do expect him to take the money he saved and make a killer mid-season deal for a pitcher if necessary.
