Alright, Lets Get Down to Buisness,
The Mets are right now heading into the time of year in which is entilted - The Stretch.
The schedule holds us to next face the Padres and Dodgers. Our new-found offense (can we even be sure is even found?) against teams with the some of the best pitchers in the national league. In the next few days we face the likes of Chris Young, Jake Peavy, and Brad Penny. Johnny Maine goes for us the tuesday against the Padres.
Maine hasn't been the same lately. Last start looked better but still when your best pitcher this season has a 10.20 era in last 3 starts, you tend to worry.
The Mets are close to accquiring Jeff Conine from the Reds for two class A prospects. This will help our bench with the loss of Damion Easley. Lets all hope his ankle is OK and he gets back soon - that sprain looked NASTY. Conine is batting .265 with six home runs and 32 RBIs in 80 games this season for the Reds.
Now, listening to Steve Phillips(cough) and the countless likes of baseball anaylis who doubt the Mets and don't give them a chance and listening to the Mets have led me too a conclussion. Those baseball anaylis don't know what their talking about - but they have a point.
The Mets have shown incestincy this entire season while also enduring countless injuries. Like I said above the Mets are entering "the stretch" and it only gets harder. So the only thing we can do now is Take Them Out!
We need to show a passion that was felt last-season but only at times this season. We need to be smart, aggresive, and show off out true potential. When the Mets are on they are the NEW METS. Beltran is hot, Wright is hot, Castillo is hot, and Reyes is still running. The Mets need to group together and play hard and take these teams out. I'm not talking about blowout victories of 10 to 1. We need to not make excuses and just head forward. Not sideways, not backward with "at least we are in first"attitude, but forward.
On our best day, we are the best team out their and if we show these teams this in the "stretch" we can put all the naysayers at bay.
We can do our part. Never stop rooting, never stop praying, never stop yelling. Weither your at the game or in your living room - show the world why we are Met fans. The Greatest Fans in the world. We can light a fire under all the players butts.
I don't know if anything I said above makes sense at all but take what you can from it. Just remeber to keep saying, rooting, yelling Lets Go Mets and to not stop believing.
LETS GO METS!!!!!!

If there ever was a time
If there ever was a time then this is it. We're playing some of the toughest teams over the next two weeks. And even though there are injuries we still have a solid squad with pitching that is very healthy.
The Conine deal is done so we have restored some depth with the loss of Easley. Hopefully we can get Carlos Delgado healthy. I'd rather sit him a few more games and five him a fighting chance than rush him back.
Even with our struggles this is a team that has the second best record in the league. We may have the best by the time this thing ends.
Now is the time indeed! Let's Go Mets!
