Trade Deadline - We Got Castillo!

Today the Mets made a deal with the twins to bring Luis Castillo to New York. The Mets sent AA catcher Drew Butera and High A outfielder Dustin Martin. This will solve our second base problem for the time being and maybe the whole two slot in the lineup.
Minaya is also looking at outfield, bullpen, and starters. We are rumored to be in basically everydeal out there at the moment. We have asked the White Sox about Jon Garland and Javier Vasquez but the asking price is very high so we will see if they pan out.
The Braves have accuried Mark Texiera so they have added a extra - weapon. We'll see if this sparks Minaya.
I'll update with updates untill the deadline tommorrow if I can.

Good catch. I generally
Good catch. I generally liked what I've seen from Ruben Gotay lately. But a veteran with a dependable .300 average for a couple of minor leaguers sounds good. This shields us from the negative effects of losing Valentin, especially the loss of depth on the bench because Gotay was starting.
Let's see what else Omar can cook up before the deadline.
Second base history
I just hope he doesn't end up being this year's version of second basemen that the Mets bring in after the peak of their career. Like Roberto Alomar and Carlos Baerga.
well honestly I expect him
well honestly I expect him to be better then Valentin was for us and he wasn't that bad
Jose Valentin did well for
Jose Valentin did well for the Mets. Would be great for Castillo to do better though. Looks like he's got some speed left and he sure can bunt for a hit. Did you see him drop down that bunt the other night? Very nice work.
Oh man how much do I love
Oh man how much do I love this deal... we get a former gold glover who is sporting a .300 average, has some speed and is a switch hitter... geeze I hope he does well and the Mets resign him in the offseason to a 3 year contract...
Now lets move on to our bullpen problems and maybe an OF... but nothing involving milledge, edgar(??) martinez, Pelfrey or Humber... Yes I left Gomez off because we should look to move him if need be... he's a future leadoff hitter and we already have one for the next 10 years in Reyes
