Torre

Anyone else hoping the "Boss" fires Joe and the Mets pick him up as a bench coach or as a manager?

(BTW, it is a requirement, so let me just be a little happy that we aren't the only NY team crying at home.)

Yes, I've been thinking

Yes, I've been thinking about that myself. Joe Torre has strong history with the Mets as both a player and a manager. And he has proven himself to be one of the best baseball minds in the game.

I couldn't see him coming on as a bench coach though because that would really be a demotion. A front office job would make sense to me.

Bench Coach

I think Managers that get "older" (Torre is 67 according to Mike and the Dog) who still want to be involved in the game, but don't want the stress of being the "guy" become bench coaches(like Don Zimmer did for the Yankees when he wasn't wrestling). This allows them to pontificate and help the manager, but alleviates the pressure of being the manager.

But, if he still really wants to be a manager there's no doubt that it would be a demotion.

All the Yanks Fan....

All the Yankees "fans" that have been defacing all my METS things at work can now go back into the closet, under the rock, into the shadows until next year. When the METS weren't in the playoffs the Yankees "Fans" went crazy with their taunts, but were silent today.

As far as Joe Torre? Let's let the steam cool on the body of the Yankees before we start picking at the corpse. I'd rather see A-Rod come across town instead of Joe Torre. I agree with Rob that it would be a step backwards for Joe to come back to the Mets.

Keep Willie, Free Moises, Sandy, Jose V, Damion and all the rest of the guys that didn't produce this year because of injuries or general apathy.

Tug Said it.....I believe it.....That settles it......
YA GOTTA BELIEVE

Yankee fans have some nerve:)

Today, at work, I was ignoring the lady Yankee fan who sits on my row since she didn't abuse me when the Mets got knocked out, so I was returning the favor...

she came over to me and mentioned that she felt like wearing a black armband. I didn't want to rub it in, so I smiled and was going to express my sorrow of HER pain, when she zinged me with "well at least we made it to the postseason"...

I felt like asking her if she felt the one victory in the playoffs made her proud of her team, but I decided not to go nuclear - and I just walked away.
