The Say Goodbye To Willie Cast

Amazin' Moments #87

Lots of changes to talk about on this podcast. We welcomed our second daughter into the world right around the time that Willie Randolph was being fired in California. I’ll give my thoughts on the firing of Willie Randolph and what it might mean for the Mets. I also talk about the measures Omar Minaya may need to take if the Mets don’t substantially improve over the next four weeks. Greg from Connecticut calls in and expresses the frustration that many Mets fans have been feeling.

One More Fan

Lots of turmoil this week in the world of the Mets. So where the heck have I been. Well, lets just say that I now have two reasons to remember the early morning hours of June 17, 2008. First, Willie Randolph got fired. More on that from me soon enough.

Rosetta Safuto Second, my second daughter was born. She came into the world at about 2:30 AM on Tuesday morning. I was oblivious to the Willie Randolph news till almost noon on Tuesday when a close friend who happens to be a Yankee fan called to bust my chops. Wow, what a surprise! How the heck could they fire Willie in the middle of the night and after a win?

The Wheels Are Starting Creak

What the heck is going on here? This New York Mets team can't seem to keep any momentum going. It really is a shame. And this thing with Willie Randolph is really ridiculous.

For those not in the know, Willie made some comments that were published in the Bergen Record yesterday. Willie is a bit angry at the fans and SNY for not giving him more love. His comments reached a crescendo when he made the following statement about the way SNY shoots Willie when he's in the dugout.

"Is it racial?" Randolph asked. "Huh? It smells a little bit."

Injuries And Guts

The Mets roster is in crazy flux due to injuries. Take a look at the player ratings page and see what I mean.

Vargas down. Williams activated. Gomez to DL. Perez to DL. Newhan called up. Crazy and scary.
