So Long Tom

Just caught the story that Tom Glavine has signed with the Braves. At least now we can put the search for a starting pitcher into a higher gear.

The way I see it now...

1. Pedro Martinez
2. ???
3. John Maine
4. Oliver Perez
5. Orlando Hernandez

Maybe we'll see Pelfrey or Humber in that mix. That would be great too. Or perhaps one of the young prospects will be traded to bring over a Johan Santana.

In a perfect world, Tom Glavine and the Braves never would have parted ways. Fortunately, fate and a strong mutual desire have reunited them and given the celebrated southpaw the opportunity to conclude his storied career where it began. [Major League Baseball]

300 Wins For Tom Glavine

Tom Glavine finally got it done last night. I heard the last couple of innings after leaving The Police concert at Giants Stadium.

It was a game that should continue to be a template for Mets wins for the rest of the season. A good pitching performance coupled with a team that takes advantage of opportunities.

Afternoon Delight?

I hope so! If you listened to the last podcast you heard me rant about the Mets finishing off teams in a series. So let's go out and get our fourth straight win.

The West Coast trip ended well taking three of four from the Dodgers. That last game was a classic win like I remember the Mets pulling off last year.

Getting Glavine To 300

Tom Glavine has to be frustrated. He has been pitching well but he can't seem to get ahead these days. The Mets have not been hitting behind him and last night was no exception. Tom will get to 300 though. Its just a matter of time.

Glavine Duels Zito

I went to the game last night thanks to a ticket from Alar. Thanks Alar.

Tom Glavine didn't have his best stiff but to quote a cliche the Yanks love to use, "He battled." The Mets were in the game all the way but couldn't break through versus Barry Zito.

We Got The Pitching

We got the pitching we needed to close out the rubber game of the three game series with the Braves.

Tom Glavine gave up a couple of runs but still pitched well. Even Scott Schoenweis was able to come in late and hold the line. Alas, the bats were flat.

Old And Young

A real showcase of the old and the young over the last few games for the Mets.

On the one hand we have the likes of Tom Glavine, Julio Franco and El Duque Hernandez.

On the other hand we have the likes of Mike Pelfrey, Jose Reyes and David Wright.

Tom Glavine gets his second win of the season tonight and is only eight wins away from 300 wins. I think its a pretty exciting prospect to have a pitcher win his 300th game in a Mets uniform.

Now here's a question. What game this season do you think he'll get 300? I'll have to look over the schedule to see what I think.
