Keys to Success in 2010

Last year at about this time I made a lengthy post outlining what I expected from the 2009 team and what we would need to do to compete. My number 1 "key to success" was our ability to stay healthy. Boy, was that prohetic or what? So naturally this is what will lead off my list of what the Mets must do to have success in 2010:

ESPN Accuscore predictions

I don't know why I care, but sometimes I do.  Log over to ESPN and check the previews of the day's games and it's usually not more than a 60% likelihood of winning a game, unless it's, say, Santana vs.

Opening Day Outlook, Roster, Strengths/Weaknesses, Expectations, and Keys for 09

Today is one of my favorite days of the year, opening day. While the Mets don't start until tommorow, the Phillies play tonight and so we can root for them to lose! Regardless, the Mets are about to embark on a 162 game voyage, and nobody knows how it's going to wind up. There will be twists and turns, ups and downs, injuries and cold/hot streaks, suprising sleepers and dissapointing busts, wins and losses, and probably lots of drama along the way. But whatever happens, I'm sure it will be a lot of fun to watch, so hang on to your hats, the roller coaster is about to begin!

Baseball preview magazines

Now when I was a kid and there was no internet, no looking up and checking on everything instantaneously, I used to love when Feb./March rolled around and the baseball preview magazines came out.  For one thing they used to actually focus on the game itself, whereas now 90% of them seem to be about fantasy baseball, which has zero appeal to me whatsoever.

Here we go.

> The rich get richer. It's becoming more and more apparent that the bigger markets are crushing the smaller markets with these signings.

I guess he missed that parade of All-Stars in and out of Atlanta back in the Ted Turner days?

Surely we can find some examples of Larry and the gang winning and losing with less than class, let's say, if we dig into the annals.

The Road May Get Rocky

Sure we'd love to believe that the 2007 season will be like'86 and the Mets will go wire to wire. Heck, we did it last year. But reality tells me that the possibilities are different.

who we are after and what is new.

With the sad, sad news that Sanchez is out till August their are rumors swirling that the Mets are chasing Oriole reliver Todd Williams. He is described as a groundball pitcher if their ever was one. He is a veteran who can come in a pinch situation.
