I'm not going to make too much of it since the Mets are long done for the season. But I think David Wright showed today (2 homers, 6 RBI) that he's still got it. Here's a guy who was alone in the lineup with the rest of the real muscle out for months. His power seemed greatly diminished this season. Then he gets hit in the head with a fastball. It has been a really tough year for David.

The Mets have sunk to a new low with their loss to the Phillies this afternoon. I think at this point it is safe to say that the bottom has officially dropped out from under the 2009 Mets. I hoped for a bounce back after an amazing (not in a good way) loss to the Phillies on Sunday. Unassisted triple play to kill a rally anyone? If you're going to lose you might as well make history, right?

I've been too seething with rage at them since October to see what that team in Philadelphia has been doing this offseason by themselves or to counteract what we've done. Has anyone been watching what their media and/or fans are saying about their offseason? I still remember being at college in VT when we won the Series in '86 and the very day after the Mets won it they were already getting slammed in the papers about how they weren't as good as everyone said and wouldn't repeat in '87, etc. Wondering if there's the same talk down the pike.
