Given that Perez is here and we can't do anything about that, look at the next option. I just saw that the Tigers are designating Dontrelle Willis and that any team that picks him up would have to pick up his $12 million contract. If Perez clears waivers, Detroit would have 10 days to trade, release him or option him to the minors. Could there be any upside to trading a bad co

Offseason Over
Submitted by 11dorisa on Wed, 02/04/2009 - 13:09Omar Minaya and Jeff Wilpon have officially declared the Mets offseason over, save a few low profile AAA level guys they may shoot cheap deals at to add depth. All the MLB signings are finished, they said, and they are comfortable with the team. They expressly said no manny, and this also means no dunn, no abreu, no hudson, no sheets, and no wolf. I had hoped for a little more considering the size of the offseason class and our holes at 2B and LF, but no team has stars at every position and i like our roster if we can stay healthy. Here is a review of our offseason...
Losses: RP Scott Schoenweiss, RP Aaron Heilman, RP Joe Smith, OF Moises Alou, SP Pedro Martinez, SP Orlando Hernandez, OF Trot Nixon, OF Endy Chavez, IF Damien Easley, RP Matt Wise

Goin down south for Pelfrey
Submitted by BigDom on Sun, 05/13/2007 - 18:11Today is mothers day so Happy Mothers Day all if it applies, if it does not, than to yours.
Today was the rubber game of the Brewers series with Oliver Perez on the mound. It was an exciting pitchers duel for the first 10 seconds before the Mets proved why they had the most dominant lineup in the National League.

That's better...!
Submitted by English Met fro... on Wed, 05/02/2007 - 16:16Much better stuff today. Oliver Perez was particularly impressive, I thought, and hopefully points the way for Mike Pelfrey by showing you can have terrible games and recover it with some disciplined pitching work. Joe Smith looks fabulous, especially compared to Aaron Heilman's recent efforts. More importantly, David Wright is looking smooth again, swinging freely and hitting well.

Time for Perez to Shine
Submitted by Brett_Upstate on Thu, 04/05/2007 - 07:54Let's not forget who vouched for this guy last season, when some people *coughRobcough* thought he was a little rough around the edges. I think Perez is going to be a superstar on the Mets. Step one was last year's NLCS, step two begins tomorrow night. Let's get behind our young rising star, and Let's Go Mets!!
