Alou Is Done

Moises Alou's torn left hamstring signals the end of his short, but dynamic career with the Mets. It's time to move on.
I'd like to personally thank Moises for the effort that he put forth with the Mets over the last two seasons. I'm serious about that. Moises is old school. He always showed up ready to play. And it always seemed to crush him when he couldn't play due to injury.

Delgado Provides A Glimmer Of Hope
Submitted by robsafuto on Mon, 04/28/2008 - 08:45A couple of days ago Carlos Delgado was on his way out. After yesterday he may just be on his way back in. I'm hoping the new groove sticks because our replacement options are dwindling fast.
"WE know how this ends for Carlos Delgado Carlos Delgado with the Mets New York Mets . We might not know the exact date or the exact term, be it designated for assignment or outright release, but we see the bread crumbs now heading toward the exit." Joel Sherman - NY Post
Carlos' two home runs helped lift the Mets over John Smoltz and the Braves. More importantly, the performance throws a little water on the idea that the Mets should replace Delgado at first with either Moises Alou or Ryan Church. That idea has been getting a lot of talk but recent events with Alou make the move less likely.

Oh Moises
Submitted by robsafuto on Wed, 03/05/2008 - 23:12Talked on the most recent podcast about the possibility of only getting 300 at bats out of Alou this season. Looks like we may be lucky to get that. Stinks, but that's what happens when you've got a 40+ year old position player on the roster. Endy is really important now.
Alou likely out until May - Moises Alou learned on Wednesday that he'll need to undergo surgery for a hernia. The outfielder will be out four to six weeks. [Major League Baseball]

%$#@! Injuries
Submitted by Phoola on Fri, 06/01/2007 - 17:38It is unbelievable how these injuries are piling up lately. Pedro starts the season on the DL, we all expected that. Alou, well, we all expected he would be spending some time on the DL this season. Then Valentin goes down, but at least Easley has been stepping up relatively well, especially with some clutch hits early on to build our confidence in him.

The Dog Days of May
Submitted by robsafuto on Wed, 05/02/2007 - 08:43It's been a tough week so far and a bad start to May. I said before that there will be ups and downs this season.
El Duque is out. Jose Valentin is out. Moises Alou is hanging on by the thread of a muscle in his shoulder.
David Wright is slumping, although maybe the worst of that is behind us. So is Carlos Delgado. The Mets have lost two straight.
