The Season We All Hoped For
Submitted by robsafuto on Mon, 07/14/2008 - 11:09
I always knew that Mike had it in him. Watching Mike Pelfrey last season I could see a pitcher that was a few good coaching tips away from being a dominant starter. It looks like Mike has learned some lessons and the dividends are paying off. I'm very excited to see this development.
A nine game winning streak is all that we could have hoped for going into the all-star break. I'm also glad that the Mets have won six straight at home, finally giving the fans something to cheer about. The streak puts the Mets right back into the thick of things in the NL East. The Phillies are holding on to a sliver of a lead just above us. The Marlins are right behind us. The joy of all these wins is great but there is a lot more work to do. For the moment this Mets team looks to be very capable of getting that work done.
Have a look at the schedule and you will see that much of the work takes place this month. After four games with the Reds we've got nine games with the Phillies, Cardinals and Marlins. All of these games have playoff implications. They will be the real test. I believe we can pass!

Goin down south for Pelfrey

Today was the rubber game of the Brewers series with Oliver Perez on the mound. It was an exciting pitchers duel for the first 10 seconds before the Mets proved why they had the most dominant lineup in the National League.

Pelfrey disappoints
Submitted by KyleMets007 on Wed, 04/25/2007 - 17:58Though I was only able to catch a recap of today's major blowout at Shea, I was able to get the point across that Mike Pelfrey once again got checked with a loss. Pelfrey, who once excited me, is now exactly the opposite.

Old And Young
Submitted by robsafuto on Sat, 04/14/2007 - 21:24A real showcase of the old and the young over the last few games for the Mets.
On the one hand we have the likes of Tom Glavine, Julio Franco and El Duque Hernandez.
On the other hand we have the likes of Mike Pelfrey, Jose Reyes and David Wright.

So Long Ruben
Submitted by robsafuto on Wed, 03/21/2007 - 08:38So long Ruben. We hardly knew ya! I don't think the Mets can stand to have another ex-Yankee on the roster anyway.
Mike Pelfrey is really making a case for the fifth starter spot. Five innings, one run allowed vs. the Orioles yesterday. If Oliver Perez's spring hasn't been a mirage this staff might just be something to talk about.
