Lastings Milledge

Did The Mets Mistreat Lastings Milledge
Submitted by robsafuto on Mon, 03/03/2008 - 13:15Now that Lastings Milledge is on the Nats I've heard some questions about whether he was mistreated by the Mets. I know he's made some statements although I haven't paid much attention. Sour grapes in my opinion.
The topic came up again on MLB Radio Daily recently. You can hear the discussion about Milledge at about the twenty minute mark. There's also a discussion about Mike Piazza earlier in the audio.

So Long Lastings
Submitted by robsafuto on Fri, 11/30/2007 - 21:15Once again Paul Lo Duca has been replaced via this deal with the Nationals. The Mets get Brian Schneider. His offensive stats don't match Lo Duca. But he is five years younger. Estrada is definitely a goner now.
The bigger part of the deal (IMHO) is that fact that Lastings Milledge, once a top outfield prospect, has been shipped out in favor of Ryan Church. Church is 29 and his previous numbers look decent. One for one I wouldn't have traded Church for Milledge. But I guess adding in a new catcher sealed the deal.
My gut feeling is that I would have enjoyed seeing Milledge getting a 100% shot in 2008. He can still be an excellent player.
Mets deal Milledge to Nats - The Mets are in serious discussions about a deal that would send outfielder Lastings Milledge to the Nationals for catcher Brian Schneider and outfielder Ryan Church, according to major-league sources. [Fox Sports]

Afternoon Delight?
Submitted by robsafuto on Thu, 07/26/2007 - 10:57I hope so! If you listened to the last podcast you heard me rant about the Mets finishing off teams in a series. So let's go out and get our fourth straight win.
The West Coast trip ended well taking three of four from the Dodgers. That last game was a classic win like I remember the Mets pulling off last year.

Milledge Back
Submitted by Ron on Wed, 07/11/2007 - 11:02So finally we hear some good news... Milledge is healed up and ready to start for the Mets... This helps fill the void left by injuries to Alou, Chavez and Gomez... My personal take on this is that I'm loving it... First it helps us fill that spot because frankly Ledee, Newhan and Johnson are not the answer in OF... Secondly if Milledge plays great it will only enhance his value for a trade...

Shawn Green Is Playing For His Life
Submitted by robsafuto on Mon, 04/09/2007 - 22:53Is there any doubt? I talk about this in my latest podcast.
Shawn Green has done very well at the beginning of this season. I think he is being driven by Lastings Milledge. Think about it. This is most likely Green's last season and if he doesn't play well he will go to the bench and Lastings will start in right field.

Lets take a look at the questions of the outfield
Submitted by rurahgomets on Tue, 02/13/2007 - 18:32The excitement of the 2007 season is just around the corner. The first issue I'd like to address would be the presence of Shawn Green. With a medocre 2006 campaign with the Mets, there are a lot of Met fans that are very concerned with his production or lack there of. Since coming over to the Mets, Green hit .257 with an on base percentage of .325.
