Carlos Beltran Surgery
Submitted by robsafuto on Wed, 01/13/2010 - 23:58We've yet to begin spring training and the injury parade has begun with Carlos Beltran sure to miss all of spring training (and probably the first month of the season) after having had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. MLB.com delivers the awful news.

Reyes Surgery A Success
Submitted by robsafuto on Tue, 10/20/2009 - 18:56Last week Jose Reyes had surgery on one of his precious wheels.
"Mets shortstop Jose Reyes underwent successful surgery to eliminate scar tissues in his right leg Thursday morning in Dallas. Reyes should be fully recovered and ready to participate in all activities in training camp in February."

Beaning David Wright
Submitted by robsafuto on Sun, 08/16/2009 - 15:17Every day I think we can't have a lower point in the season and then David Wright gets beaned by Matt Cain. Wright has been diagnosed with a concussion and is out indefinitely. Remember that a concusion cost Ryan Church a good portion of the 2008 season. I'm steaming mad and at the same time crushed. Johan Santana did the right thing by retaliating.

The Sinking Feeling Cast

Recapping the horrible events of the last two months for the Mets. Ugh!

Are We Done Yet?
Submitted by robsafuto on Sat, 08/01/2009 - 10:38The news that Jose Reyes suffered another setback has tempered the optimism I was feeling after the Mets won five in a row earlier this week.

Reyes Out, Now I Need A Doctor
Submitted by robsafuto on Thu, 06/04/2009 - 23:42It can't get much worse than losing three straight to Pittsburgh then finding out that Jose Reyes has a torn hamstring and will miss 4 to 6 weeks. Ugh. I feel ill myself right now. Omar Minaya better be out there looking for a big pickup prior to the trading deadline. I think we're going to need the assistance in a bad way.

Time To Call Pudge
Submitted by robsafuto on Thu, 03/19/2009 - 14:18
This really stinks. Looks like it's time to call Pudge Rodriquez.
PS: I posted the Mets 2009 Schedule here. There's a link at the top right of the page too.
Health: Schneider out Indefinitely -
The results of an MRI revealed that Brian Schneider has a PCL strain in his knee and strained calf.

Johan Santana's Elbow
Submitted by robsafuto on Mon, 03/02/2009 - 10:27
I know that things have been going pretty good so far for the Mets this spring but the talk about Johan Santana's elbow has definitely got me on edge. In my mind any kind of nagging arm injury to Santana could derail the Mets chances of improving over their record last season. Santana was huge for us last year and I think we're going to need that kind of effort again.

Billy Is Done But The Mets Are Not
Submitted by robsafuto on Mon, 09/08/2008 - 14:54The following headline says it all.
Wagner to have surgery on left elbow
"Billy Wagner will undergo surgery this week on his left elbow, and will miss one year, a Mets official confirmed early Monday afternoon."
Now is the time for the Mets bullpen to step up and get it done by committee. We've got some veterans who can get the job done. Aaron Heilman has pitched well over his last eight appearances. Brandon Stokes has been getting it done lately. He has a 1.46 ERA over his last 12 innings pitched. Luis Ayala has pitched pretty well recently. Joe Smith has picked up the role of specialist and can help get righty hitters out in tough situations.
The Mets can get it done with the bullpen we have. It won't be easy but ya gotta believe. Let's Go Mets!

Alou Is Done
Submitted by robsafuto on Fri, 07/11/2008 - 14:46
Moises Alou's torn left hamstring signals the end of his short, but dynamic career with the Mets. It's time to move on.
I'd like to personally thank Moises for the effort that he put forth with the Mets over the last two seasons. I'm serious about that. Moises is old school. He always showed up ready to play. And it always seemed to crush him when he couldn't play due to injury.
