Alou Is Done
Submitted by robsafuto on Fri, 07/11/2008 - 18:46.
Moises Alou's torn left hamstring signals the end of his short, but dynamic career with the Mets. It's time to move on.
I'd like to personally thank Moises for the effort that he put forth with the Mets over the last two seasons. I'm serious about that. Moises is old school. He always showed up ready to play. And it always seemed to crush him when he couldn't play due to injury.

Church To DL. Duh!
Submitted by robsafuto on Tue, 06/10/2008 - 17:50.The Mets have finally placed Ryan Church on the disabled list. It's about time. Ryan has been the most clutch hitter for the Mets in 2008. When he recently suffered his second concussion of the year I thought that the Mets would err on the side of caution and give Ryan the rest he needed.
Ryan did not get the rest he needed though and he was rushed back into the lineup just before the Mets made this road trip. I heard the Mets announcers say that long airplane flights (like ones from New York to California for instance) tend to exacerbate head injuries. The Mets announcers were right. Ryan played very little on the west coast trip because he wasn't feeling right.

Pedro Heard A Pop
Submitted by robsafuto on Wed, 04/02/2008 - 02:20.According to Kevin Burkhardt of SNY, Pedro Martinez "heard a pop" before leaving the game tonight with a hamstring injury. Pedro will be returning to New York for an MRI.
All I can say is this. Let the candlelight vigils begin.

Things Are Looking Up
Submitted by robsafuto on Tue, 03/11/2008 - 14:55.After a rough first couple of weeks in spring training things are finally looking up for the Mets. John Maine threw four no-hit innings a couple of days ago. Johan Santana blanked the Red Sox yesterday. The Carloses, Delgado and Beltran, returned to action yesterday.

Oh Moises
Submitted by robsafuto on Thu, 03/06/2008 - 03:12.Talked on the most recent podcast about the possibility of only getting 300 at bats out of Alou this season. Looks like we may be lucky to get that. Stinks, but that's what happens when you've got a 40+ year old position player on the roster. Endy is really important now.
Alou likely out until May - Moises Alou learned on Wednesday that he'll need to undergo surgery for a hernia. The outfielder will be out four to six weeks. [Major League Baseball]

This Team Is Going Sideways
Submitted by robsafuto on Sun, 07/29/2007 - 03:12.What to say about this team right now? One step forward and one step back.
Some guys are playing well. Milledge, Gotay and Delgado are getting decent bat on the ball. Others are slumping badly. Shawn Green has disappeared. At least he's healthy and hustling though.

Injuries And Guts
Submitted by robsafuto on Sun, 07/08/2007 - 14:56.The Mets roster is in crazy flux due to injuries. Take a look at the player ratings page and see what I mean.
Vargas down. Williams activated. Gomez to DL. Perez to DL. Newhan called up. Crazy and scary.

The June Slump.
Submitted by BigDom on Wed, 06/20/2007 - 22:07.Its the first day of summer and Its the last day of testing for me which is filling me with the joy the Mets should be right now. Well you can't blame the Mets for not trying afterall they beat the Twins up and down Queens before they let the Twins beat them up to Minnesota and back.

Winning With Pain
Submitted by robsafuto on Mon, 05/28/2007 - 17:57.A great sweep for the Mets this weekend. But oh crap the injuries. Was that Damion Easely in the outfield yesterday?
The Mets get three and gain three on Atlanta. Way to go guys! Jorge Sosa returns to form. Another great sign.

Got What We Needed
Submitted by robsafuto on Sat, 05/26/2007 - 12:23.We got what we needed last night in the win vs. the Florida Marlins. For the most part at least.
We got a win, combined with an Atlanta loss to Philadelphia. So we get a game back in the standings.
We got a sharp outing from Orlando Hernandez, who just returned from the DL. That makes me feel good. Pitching is still strong.
