My Impression Of Citi Field
Submitted by robsafuto on Fri, 07/03/2009 - 16:05I had my first trip to Citi Field last Saturday night and am ready to share my thoughts (and videos) about the Mets' new stadium.
What I Liked

The Opening Citi (Shef) Field Cast

We’re on the verge of a brand new season. Citi Field has been opened with two exhibition games against the Red Sox. Livan Hernandez will be the fifth starter to begin the season. And in a blockbuster last minute move that has caused quite a stir the Mets have picked up Gary Sheffield off of the scrap heap.

Opening Day plea
Submitted by jmy9595 on Mon, 03/30/2009 - 10:41Being in Minnesota, I doubt it'll be on any kind of national TV here, especially since we open on the road, but is there anyone able and willing to record the Opening Day at Citi Field activities for me? Ceremonies, game, wrap-up, etc. Ideally this would be someone with a DVD recorder who could burn it right to a DVD, but, if not, VHS is fine and I can burn it myself.
Naturally, I'd reimburse for any expenses and postage and would be eternally grateful. Either send me a message here (I think there's a message option here, not sure) or at jmy9595@gmail.com. Thanks.

Citi Field Photo Tour
Submitted by robsafuto on Sat, 03/21/2009 - 21:19Found this great photo tour of Citi Field courtesy of Mets Grrl and just had to share. The stadium looks great. I can't wait to see a game there. On the flip side the ticket prices (too high) and options (too many) really stink. That's life, right?

Insert Name Here Field
Submitted by robsafuto on Sun, 11/23/2008 - 11:03MLB.com has a story today about the (increasingly strong) possibility that Citi Field will be renamed prior to the start of the 2009 season. Those are the breaks when you rely on corporate deals to name stadiums. I remember when Enron collapsed and they changed the name of the new Astros stadium to Minute Maid Park.
We might as well start kicking around new names. My suggestion is that if the Mets ownership must have a corporate deal that the corporate name be placed below the name of the stadium. That way even if the corporate sponsor changes the fans will have consistency and a history that can be passed on indefinitely.
I vote for the name Jackie Robinson Field.
Mets' stadium naming-rights deal safe - Perhaps it would be wise not to become too attached to the name associated with the Mets' new home. What now is Citi Field conceivably could have a different identity even before it opens in April because of the recession. [Major League Baseball]

Crazy Ticket Prices
Submitted by robsafuto on Tue, 08/12/2008 - 22:28
I know. It's a little early to be fretting about 2009. But word is out on the planned prices at Citi Field. They're high. And remember that Citi has 15,000 fewer seats than Shea.
The New York Post is reporting that lower deck seats will range from $125 to $479 a piece. Overall ticket prices will go up 79%. I guess the days of the $10 upper deck seats to a "bronze" game are over. According to the NY Post story, "Reserved seats in the upper deck at Citi Field, called the Promenade, will average $19."
If you (or your company) has a few bucks to spare, one of the forty-nine luxury boxes is still available for up to $500,000.
