So by the sounds of things the Twins will be making Johan Santana Available this offseason... Experts figure that the Mets and Yankees will be slugging it out to acquire Santana... What package do you think the Mets will have to offer to trade for Santana???

Personally I think Gomez, Pelfrey/Humber, and possibly Milledge would have to be sent over in order to get Santana... Also I would not trade either Reyes or Wright for Santana.. even in a 1 for 1 trade... We need an ace and we can afford to give away some of our top prospects for the best pitcher in the game... But this only hinges on if we can sign him to a 5-7 year contract also

So by now pretty much everyone knows A Rod has optioned out of his contract with the Yankees... Now my question is do the Mets try and sign him and if they do what should be done with the playing situation at 3rd?

What I think is yes the Mets should try to sign him... We have the money to sign him and he's the best player in the game... I'd stay away from the 7+ years Boras is trying to get for A Rod but I wouldn't put it past making it a $25-30 million a season contract... A Rod has no major injury history so he'll be playing most of the games... That would be money well spent...

So looks like the Mets have fired Rick Downs and hired Rickey Henderson as their hitting coach... Seems to me that their idea of moving Howard Johnson from first base coach to hitting coach and having Henderson be the first base coach would be a better idea... Think about it..

So finally we hear some good news... Milledge is healed up and ready to start for the Mets... This helps fill the void left by injuries to Alou, Chavez and Gomez... My personal take on this is that I'm loving it... First it helps us fill that spot because frankly Ledee, Newhan and Johnson are not the answer in OF... Secondly if Milledge plays great it will only enhance his value for a trade...

So what's the word on Sanchez? Is he out for the season or is he comming back sometime?

So I was looking at the box score of the Mets game on sunday and they had beltran hitting 2 and Wirght hitting 3 and it got me thinking.. With Delgado's struggles with Men in scoring position why not bat Wright in the 4 slot and Delgado in the 5 slot.. it would take some pressure off Delgado and with Wright hitting like he is it may just be the shot in the arm we need... Just an idea..

SI.com has posted a rumor that the Marlins may trade Dontrelle Willis if they fall out of contention (which they will). So with that said should the Mets trade for Willis or wait and trade or try to sign Carlos Zambrano? Also who would you include in the trade for either.

Great game by the Mets last night. First game I was able to watch all season and I must say I'm impressed. Delgado seems to be back which is great considering Beltran and Reyes have cooled a bit. Wright is still inconsistent, although he did hit one as far as he could without getting a homerun.
