Mets kept the streak alive tonight with a very impressive outing by Jon Niese and some clutch late inning offense by beltran, delgado, and santos. At 5 in a row this is officially a win streak in my book (knock on wood) and my confidence is currently higher than it was at any other time this year. Maine, one of our rotation ? so far, gets the ball tommorow to try and make it 6 straight.

It relieved me greatly to see the Mets driving in some runs deep in the game. That's been a problem all this year as well as a great part of last year. Hopefully this trend will be here to stay, I'd rather see the Mets play balanced ball than score a bunch in the first few innings and then simply fall flat.
17 hits + 10 runs + stellar outing by Maine and Takahashi from the bullpen = 6 straight wins. Everybody in teh lineup was hitting today, and Maine was very successful. Mets have the Braves and then the Giants coming up next 2 series, niether of which are particularly good, so its possible this streak could last for awhile so long as we take it one game at a time and keep playing confident, enthused baseball. Keep it up mets.

It's nice to see the Mets run off six in a row at the time we needed it most. The fans were getting down. Let's celebrate Mother's Day with a sweep, eh?
It's important to note that the Mets are on fire right now with runners in scoring position during this streak. Even with pitching ups and downs I feel like the Mets have a potent enough offense to carry the team to many more wins this season. If any two of the 3-4-5 hitters are hot it seems to set the tone for the rest of the team. Right now it seems that all three have found their stroke.
How about a podcast Rob? Let's hear about the Mets being in first place! heh heh
I'd love to see a sweep of this series. I thought this series would be a really good test after hearing some of the speculation that the Mets couldn't get motivated for series against scrubs like the Padres and Nationals. Some of this speculation was a result of some of the players saying that they really love to go after the Phillies and why they couldnt bring that motivation to the park every day. It's great to see us go out and get it done against a team we SHOULD be beating up on. Scoring late with those valuable insurance runs is something that we have really been missing and its now good to see those runs getting tacked on.
Anyway, a Happy Mothers Day to all those Mom Met fans and lets put away these Pirates today!
This all began right after Omar Minaya commented on the team's missing edge. That set a fire under everybody and they all set out to prove that they had said edge. I applaud Minaya for not beating around the bush and being honest. Lets keep it up.

A funny video of Howard Stern producer Gary (Baba Booey) Dell'abate throwing an awful first pitch at the Mets game yesterday. The poor guy tossed the ball to the umpire who was a few feet to the left side of the catcher.
5 in a row
