Wowza, what at run! I really thought that the Mets number was up last night. The Mets pitchers were just getting shelled in that bandbox called Great American Ballpark. But the Mets beat the Reds at their own game by swinging for the short porches. Nice to see David Wright come out of his slump with 3 RBI and a game tying homer in the ninth.
I'm glad to be tied for first at this point, but also concerned about how the team will deal with injuries to Pedro Martinez and Ryan Church. I think we need those guys to seriously compete against the Phils, Marlins and Cardinals. Hopefully we get them back soon.

Rob,
How much more exciting is the season now that the Mets are tied! This is why i love Baseball so much. With the Swing of a Bat the game momentum shifts.
Sure it could have turned out to be the end of the streak, but i'll take it however ugly i can get it! I was just glad it didn't go extra innings; my boss would kill me if i showed up bleary eyed again!
LET'S GO METS!

Last nights loss was just UGLY. It looked as if the back and forth would go on, and that was exciting. It looked as if the Mets would stay with the Reds (can you believe i have to say "stay WITH the Reds" as of this writing 10 games out of first place, but lets face it a tenacious team), but then the wheels came off the bus. The relievers looked like the relievers of earlier in the season, and we left tons of players on base. How do David Wright and Carlos Beltran strike out looking back to back with the bases loaded? UGLY!!!!
I was heart broken, but then started to put things into perspective. We're presently one game out of first place, and still have some momentum coming off the 10 game win streak. Being Mets fans, we become very used to "what have you done for me lately" type attitudes from the fans. We've got to keep the faith.
Looking forward to todays rubber game, and then a short home stand against the Phillies and Cardinals. The Mets can put some distance between themselves and the Phillies with a strong showing against them, or put some distance between them with a poor showing. Let's hope for the former.
I'll be at two Cardinals games back to back (something I've NEVER done) next weekend.

I see games like the ones the last couple of days and I get worried. This is a fragile resurgence. The Marlins and Phils are still right there. And the Mets injury situation is as bad as it's been this season. We need to win today and salvage a split.

Mike Pelfrey didn't look so good today but the team got it done anyway. The bullpen came through big to keep the score close and finish it. Carlos Delgado was the star, earning back his place in the five spot if you ask me. Reyes showed up strong too. By all rights the Mets should have scored more runs because they had so many opportunities.
