Is That All?
Submitted by robsafuto on Sat, 02/06/2010 - 12:25I can't help but think as the offseason dwindles into the past, "Is that all?" The Mets signed Jason Bay which was a big signing that we were all hoping for. Jose Reyes appears to be healthy and ready for Spring Training as is Johan Santana. That's good news. Of course Carlos Beltran's knee surgery offsets some of that good news.

Carlos Beltran Surgery
Submitted by robsafuto on Wed, 01/13/2010 - 23:58We've yet to begin spring training and the injury parade has begun with Carlos Beltran sure to miss all of spring training (and probably the first month of the season) after having had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. MLB.com delivers the awful news.

Omar's Christmas Gift To Fans
Submitted by robsafuto on Sat, 12/26/2009 - 11:10
Merry Christmas Mets fans. Omar "Santa" Minaya delivered this year's gift in the form of Kelvim Escobar. Not much of a gift you say? Stop being a humbug. It's better than nothing right?

Offers To Bay And Bengie
Submitted by robsafuto on Sat, 12/12/2009 - 16:35So the word is that the Mets have made offers to Jason Bay and Bengie Molina. I like the offer to Jason Bay. He had big numbers in 2009 with 36 homers and 119 RBI. The year before he hit 31 homers with 101 RBI. And he's only 31.

A Turkey Of A Season
Submitted by robsafuto on Wed, 11/25/2009 - 21:27Happy Thanksgiving Mets fans! 2009 sucked but we can dream better things for 2010, can't we? As fans I think we still have a few things to be thankful for though. I list them here in the hopes that they plant the seeds for great things next season. These are in no particular order.

Let The Healing Begin
Submitted by robsafuto on Thu, 11/05/2009 - 23:54I think we can now get on with the business at hand. The Yankees won the series. At least the Phillies lost, right? There's only one thing that the Mets can do to answer. And that's put together a really solid squad in the offseason by addressing the most critical needs like first base, left field, a quality starter and a setup man.

Reyes Surgery A Success
Submitted by robsafuto on Tue, 10/20/2009 - 18:56Last week Jose Reyes had surgery on one of his precious wheels.
"Mets shortstop Jose Reyes underwent successful surgery to eliminate scar tissues in his right leg Thursday morning in Dallas. Reyes should be fully recovered and ready to participate in all activities in training camp in February."

Dykstra Pawns His 1986 World Series Ring
Submitted by robsafuto on Thu, 09/24/2009 - 22:06What a crying shame. A Japanese camera crew happened to be in a Los Angeles pawn shop when Lenny Dykstra showed up to pawn a number of his rings including the one from the '86 World Series. Check out the video for yourself.

A Twinkle Of Light During An Awful Season
Submitted by robsafuto on Sat, 09/12/2009 - 23:34I'm not going to make too much of it since the Mets are long done for the season. But I think David Wright showed today (2 homers, 6 RBI) that he's still got it. Here's a guy who was alone in the lineup with the rest of the real muscle out for months. His power seemed greatly diminished this season. Then he gets hit in the head with a fastball. It has been a really tough year for David.
