Untouchables

I can't take any more of these nights of complete sleepwalking offense.  Have the Mets won a 12-10 game this year, anything like that?  Giving up 4 runs in the first two innings should not be an automatic loss.  I'm really at the point where I don't care if the entire team is torn down and brought back, up to and including Wright, Reyes and Santana.  All three are tainted by the "07-'08 collapses and can't get them out of their heads.  They can't stop a bad stretch from snowballing out of control.  Wright's putting up decent numbers but his hitting is completely non-clutch.  Look at the numbers, the strikeouts and how many RISP he's stranded.  Reyes, I don't know what I'm getting week by week and the injuries keep coming.  Santana can be briliant for five starts and come up with one win.  He can pitch well enough to hang in a 1-1 game but then give up a 2-out single to a nobody to lose 2-1.  We could hover around .500 with him or without him at this point.  He's 10-9.  If we won most of the games where he pitched well and got a ND, that'd be one thing, but I don't think it's the case.  I'd say keep David and maybe Thole and everybody else can go at this point.

Mets Untouchables

I think you're going to far. It is way to early to give up on David Wright and Jose Reyes. They're proven players who are having some troubles but we couldn't do better at those positions. Even in a bad year Wright is hitting .292 with 87 RBI. He has improved over last season and will do fine next year. Reyes is not what he was a couple of years ago but he's still an excellent leadoff hitter and I can't think of someone else who I want in that spot. Johan is the real deal and must stay. He would have a much better record if the Mets gave him some decent run support. Jason Bay has to be untouchable too. Call me a sucker but I think he's got much more to offer than what we saw this season. I'm 50/50 on Carlos Beltran.

Why not talk about coaches? Jerry Manuel must go. HoJo must go too. I don't care about HoJo's past with the Mets at this point. He has to be held accountable for the Mets' awful hitting, particularly among the younger players. He is the batting coach after all!
