OK, Pelfrey feels fine, Mets say he's not hiding an injury. Didn't Maine insist he felt fine too?
I'm just disgusted that every time there's something like a free preview on cable or MLB.TV it always comes when the Mets are playing absolute crap. I work til 11 this week, come home all set to watch some Mets on the DVR and I can't even make it through one inning, delete the thing.

Pulverized
Thanks for posting. It's the week of a final exam for me and I'm swamped. The portion of the game I could watch last night was a disaster for Pelfrey and the Mets. I'm getting worried about Pelfrey. That neck thing must have affected him. The Mets MUST turn around and win this series. The D'backs are an awful team and if they can't win a series even with Beltran back then...
same old song
Offense sleepwalks through 5-6 innings, makes a token effort but not enough and wind up losing by a stupid insurance run. And another lost series...to ARIZONA. Mets left the bases loaded w/o scoring and yeah so did they, but we're the ones who seemed to pay more.
Worse still is seeing this headline on Mets.com:
Just Can't Hit
In 6 second half games, the mets have scored 10 runs. That's less than 2 per game. Not cutting it. Not counting home runs, we've scored just 5 runs over that same span. less than 1 per game. Nobody on the team is getting hits! I think in our excitement to have Beltran and Reyes back, players have been trying to do too much, rather than just get gritty and play small ball like they had been. We need to choke up, take the ball the other way, and get some of our batting averages up and some rallies going. We also need to be smarter at the plate and work on the opposing pitchers' pitch count, as starters have been going deep on us and getting tons of strikeouts.
I also would make Francouer more of a regular in the OF, perhaps platooning all 4 OF's on an equal rotation. Pagan can play all 3 OF positions, so maybe give he, Beltran, Bay, and Francouer one day off every 4 games to keep them all fresh and hitting well? none of them are hitting right now, so maybe this is what they need to stay fresh during the dog days of summer. This is just the point in the season where the injury decimated 09 mets fell out of contention, so lets hope the healthy but struggling 2010 mets don't do the same.
bonus disaster innings
OK, Perez came in and wasn't as unbelievably bad as before, but how did he skate out of the 14th without a loss? He hit a guy with a pitch and Nieve let him score. Is the official scorer intervening for some reason?
Biggest story? Bay 0-for-6 with 4 K's. Looked horrible, swinging over every low outside slider.
