Just because it needed to be created. Nothing much to say, not about last night's game anyway. But I do wonder why it's always the Mets that have to go to Puerto Rico, Mexico, Japan, all these oddball series, and they never win. it just seems to get them out of sorts and now when they're playing well. Let's see if they can pick it up tonight. Takahashi in Puerto Rico. Oy.

Foiled By R.A. Dickey
To heck with him he's a bum. Okay I'll give him a few more starts before I banish him to Oliver Perez-land in my mind. Seriously I figured he'd have an outing like this at some point. Knucklers giveth and knucklers taketh away. That said, the Mets need to keep winning because the Braves are not slowing down. And wouldn't you know that Jason Bay hits 2 hrs in a romp of a loss. Anyway, thanks for posting! It's fixing to be a busy week for me.
Grand Salamis
What is it with Mets pitchers and grand slams? Takahashi served up the 8th of the year for the Mets (along with another home run to boot) and the Mets lead becomes a 6-3 deficit. Will the Mets ever play well against the Marlins? The game is still winnable but a 6-run inning for the Marlins gives me a bad feeling about the game.
great minds apparently on the slams
See below
Takahashi
HT might beat him to Perezland. WHAT is with the Mets pitchers and grand slams this year????? Nothing takes a team out of a game quicker than a grand slam. Are they so paranoid of walking in a run that they're grooving them or what's going on?
I'm just sick of beating the good teams and then having Florida play us like it's Game 7 all the time. The elimination game in 2007 or 2008, whenever it was, while Milwaukee wandered into the playoffs for 5 minutes of fame...the 4-game sweep in Miami last time....
what a lineup
What's with Barajas? .245 and sinking, another 0-for-3 so far and back to back with Fernando ".161" Tatis. Late middle of this lineup is really where rallies go to die.
Ike
Well, making a run to get back into it. Ike pinch-hits for Dessens, down 2 with a runner on. So the Marlins bring in a LHP to face Ike. He's batting .323 against them, .264 on the season....classic.
AAAAAANNND he strikes out, but it was still dumb.
well that was depressing
They make the comeback, get it to two outs, bottom of the ninth and hand it right back. Base open and his run meaningless, why are we pitching to Uggla, who's already homered??? Unless I hear some good postgame explanations, this one's right on Jerry's head.
Atlanta had already lost, could've gotten back to ½ a game out but nope.
OK, I'll fight for the bright side:
1) The team is again showing life late in the game and they're not crushed by being down 2-5 runs, even late. That said, it's about the 3rd stirring comeback this year where they drew even in the 8th or 9th and then coughed it right up.
2) Thole had a nice PH RBI single, which comes along at a time when he might well be trade bait for Lee.
