The Nationals' pitcher tonight is 5-1? 5-1??? That's like half their wins! And we've got Redding. Ugh. They might be favored going in.

Just checked ESPN, who has Washington favored 54/46.

Ugly Wins Still Count
We went from an ugly loss yesterday to an ugly win today, but i'll take it. The bad news was we were only able to score 1 run in our initial 9 innings vs. the worst pitching team in baseball, and that one run was not even deserved because the runner who scored it should have been called out at third the play before. The good news was thats all we needed, as Redding threw 7 impressive 1-run innings and we came through in extras to get the win. Not pretty, but when we've lst 3 in a row and are so shorthanded, we'll take what we can get.
We Needed A Win
Thanks for starting this thread. A busy day and evening for me but I was able to catch the last few inning of the game. Surprised by Redding but then again he was facing the Nationals. The offense was pretty punchless once again and hurt themselves with a couple of baserunning gaffes. David Wright had the quietest 4 for 5 I've seen but his last hit was a big one. Strangely enough he then got thrown out trying to steal third with no one out. Luckily that play didn't factor in as K-Rod sealed the win. I'm happy for the win. We need to sweep the Nats to undo some of the damage done in Pittsburgh.
tooth and nail
Still, it seemed pretty tooth and nail to have to take a 1-1 game with Washington to extras for the win, but I'll take it. Hopn today's goes easier. Lidge just coughed up a 9th inning game-tying HR to Furcal, so LA & Philly are tied 2-2 now. We'll see how that shakes out too.
Sunday
Two innings in, a comfy 5-0 lead, it occurs to me that Livan just might be the type of pitcher finally to throw that Met no-hitter and who better against than Washington?
Sunday - 3rd inning
Well the concept was good.
Finishing The Series
The Mets need to finish this series out with a pair of wins. It's very possible given the current situation, 5-0 Mets in the 5th inning. We needed a sweep since Philly lost a couple recently. My feeling is that for the next couple of weeks we need to hold on and play .500 or just a little better til we can get Jose Reyes back into the lineup. And Omar needs to do some deal magic. We're missing one big hitter because of Delgado's injury and I don't know that we have anyone who can step up into that role.
