I saw an item on SI.com/mlb that the Red Sox might be parting ways with Wakefield. How much fun would a rotation be that included Wakefield and Dickey with his hard knuckler and the softer one they say he's working on this spring?

Submitted by jmy9595 on Thu, 10/28/2010 - 17:07This whole GM hiring process was odd to me. Management was sending out e-mail and Facebook updates listing who was being interviewed, who was getting called back when and how things were going. Of them, Byrnes was the only name I'd heard of and him just barely. I didn't really care either way after hearing what a miracle worker Minaya was with M

K-Rod settles
Submitted by jmy9595 on Tue, 10/19/2010 - 17:15The Mets and K-Rod settled?? I don't give a **** about $3.1 million from 2010, I didn't want him back in 2011 in any way, shape or form. He's too volatile, gave up a ton of HRs, blew a lot of saves in 2010. I thought we had a way out.

2011 schedule & 2010 postmortem
Submitted by jmy9595 on Tue, 09/14/2010 - 20:47Well, the 2011 schedule is out and I haven't looked at it in any detail yet except for the most selfish reason, to see if after living in Minnesota 6 years the Mets might actually come here finally. Nope. Wasn't there supposed to be some element of rotation to this?? We seem to play two teams here, one team there, then the Yankees a bunch.

Untouchables
Submitted by jmy9595 on Thu, 09/02/2010 - 10:34I can't take any more of these nights of complete sleepwalking offense. Have the Mets won a 12-10 game this year, anything like that? Giving up 4 runs in the first two innings should not be an automatic loss. I'm really at the point where I don't care if the entire team is torn down and brought back, up to and including Wright, Reyes and Santana. All three are tainted by

Mets - Nationals Series Discussion
Submitted by jmy9595 on Thu, 07/01/2010 - 21:57Let's see, another classic inability to score two runs off a sub-.500 team that plays us like it's Game 7 all the time. Another road giveaway.
From the stats, it appears Johan pitched better, but it was obvious he needed to get out of that one inning unscored on and he gave up the 2-out run. No good.
Next!

Cliff Lee
Submitted by jmy9595 on Tue, 06/29/2010 - 18:29This seems to be a growing source of speculation and worthy of its own blog. In Minneapolis there's all kinds of talk in the media that the Twins need to keep spending money to bring Lee here (maybe he's going to tell Mauer how to hit his 4th HR of the year?), but I think the moves the Mets are making, particularly involving catchers (Thole, Barrett signed

Mets - Marlins Series Discussion
Submitted by jmy9595 on Tue, 06/29/2010 - 18:15Just because it needed to be created. Nothing much to say, not about last night's game anyway. But I do wonder why it's always the Mets that have to go to Puerto Rico, Mexico, Japan, all these oddball series, and they never win. it just seems to get them out of sorts and now when they're playing well. Let's see if they can pick it up tonig

1962 Mets
Submitted by jmy9595 on Sat, 06/19/2010 - 23:49I was just watching a special on MLB Network where Bob Costas showed highlights from the WWII fundraiser when they brought Walter Johnson and Babe Ruth back to Yankee Stadium to face each other one last time (Ruth hit two HRs) and I got to remembering how great Oldtimers Day at Shea used to be.
