Mets - D-backs Series Discussion

OK, Pelfrey feels fine, Mets say he's not hiding an injury.  Didn't Maine insist he felt fine too?

Mets - Nationals Series Discussion

Let's see, another classic inability to score two runs off a sub-.500 team that plays us like it's Game 7 all the time.  Another road giveaway.

From the stats, it appears Johan pitched better, but it was obvious he needed to get out of that one inning unscored on and he gave up the 2-out run.  No good.

Cliff Lee

This seems to be a growing source of speculation and worthy of its own blog.  In Minneapolis there's all kinds of talk in the media that the Twins need to keep spending money to bring Lee here (maybe he's going to tell Mauer how to hit his 4th HR of the year?), but I think the moves the Mets are making, particularly involving catchers (Thole, Barrett signed

Mets - Marlins Series Discussion

Just because it needed to be created.  Nothing much to say, not about last night's game anyway.  But I do wonder why it's always the Mets that have to go to Puerto Rico, Mexico, Japan, all these oddball series, and they never win.  it just seems to get them out of sorts and now when they're playing well.  Let's see if they can pick it up tonig

1962 Mets

I was just watching a special on MLB Network where Bob Costas showed highlights from the WWII fundraiser when they brought Walter Johnson and Babe Ruth back to Yankee Stadium to face each other one last time (Ruth hit two HRs) and I got to remembering how great Oldtimers Day at Shea used to be.

Mets - Orioles Series Discussion

OK, our game's going well enough with DH Carter and a 3-run HR, but Philly is down 12-0 to the Red Sox in the 3rd!!!

Interleague

Year in, year out I can't tell what they're doing with interleague scheduling.

Willis

Given that Perez is here and we can't do anything about that, look at the next option.  I just saw that the Tigers are designating Dontrelle Willis and that any team that picks him up would have to pick up his $12 million contract.  If Perez clears waivers, Detroit would have 10 days to trade, release him or option him to the minors.  Could there be any upside to trading a bad co

Remember the Maine

If you missed John Maine's postgame interviews the other night, track them down.  They're about as jerky and unprofessional as I've ever heard a player come across.  No, John Maine, it's not all about YOU.  He's wild again, is throwing 83 mph, how long does he think he should be left in?  How would he feel after giving up, say, 7 ERs in 2/3 of an inning?  Manuel did him

Target Field

So I went to a noon game on Thursday at Minnesota's new Target Field.  Nice enough but sort of like Avatar...you realize afterward there really wasn't much there.  As you walk from the light rail around the stadium to the gates, there are what seem like bamboo screens hanging on the fence with Minnesota stars throughout the years.  Everyone you'd expect, Killebrew, Puckett, Hrbek
