I was only watching the thing on mets.com Gameday, but it did feel for once like we'd win a 2-1 game instead of dropping one. True to form, Washington almost plays up to Philadelphia, just like I said, but falls short.

Perhaps when I get my first whiff of Citi Field hot dogs I'll be smelling it. Seriously though, I'm skeptical. We're having a good run against a couple of teams that aren't so good. I'm concerned about the offense though. I like what the pitchers are doing for the most part. Wins are wins though. Let's go out and keep getting 'em.
The reason I feel so excited about this team is not because they've won recently.
The reasons are I've been listening to the announcers on SNY and they've been talking about a team flight that was delayed because there was hole found. While they were grounded, the team came together. They bonded, gelled, whatever term you want to use... but since then they've played as a team. The way you and I play. You are in a tough game, it's your turn at bat - you tell the on-deck hitter, if I get on base, you've gotta get on base.
When you play as a team, as they've been doing recently, you don't need homeruns from your hitters or a lot of strikeouts from your pitchers. You need teammates to play their hardest - to give it their all, to never give up.
That's the magic the Mets have always had when they've played meaningful games in the late/post season.
P.S. GiantsFan7791, It's nice to be missed:) Thanks!
The game is won in the eleventh
Admit it, you knew they'd win tonight... c'mon... admit it:)
I will admit

Don't Smell It Yet

Cause for optimism
