Even though the fans loved their hometown hero, the Braves thought he was so done that they not only traded him away for an uninspiring journeyman outfielder, but they did it to their cross-town rival New York Mets.

Significant Headwinds

David Wright's bat came alive and no one hit better during the month. R.A. Dickey and Mike Pelfrey stifled opposing batters. Now it's July and the Mets seem to be back to their old losing ways. Johan Santana pitched much better but got little run support. K-Rod is blowing games again.

From the stats, it appears Johan pitched better, but it was obvious he needed to get out of that one inning unscored on and he gave up the 2-out run. No good.
